{Who Baked the Cookies in the Cookie Jar?}

It happens to everybody. At times – even if you're not hungry – you crave something good. Perhaps even sweet. Or bitter. Definitely something yummy.

To me, it usually happens during those lazy, quiet evenings, where I lay in my pajamas, listening to the sound of raindrops colliding against the kitchen window. During those hours, I know of only one remedy: cookies. I walk up the stairs, into the kitchen and cradle my Rosti Mepal bowls. This is, as my friend Kjartan vivedly described it, my habitat. So there I am, in the kitchen, chopping chocolate and smashing butter. Listening to Johnny Cash rocking it at Folsom Prison. Sipping my coffee. And smiling. A lot.

{Café Cookies}
From the Café Cookies Package

140 g butter, at room temperature
130 g sugar
60 g oatmeal
240 g wheat flour
75 g caramel saus
3 tsp baking powder
1 egg yolk
130 g light (Belgian) chocolate, chopped
130 g dark (Belgian) chocolate, chopped
45 g hazelnuts, chopped
½ tsp salt
1/3 dl water

1.Mix the flour, baking powder, butter, sugar and salt together into a loose dough. Add the egg yolk, caramel saus and water and mix thoroughly to a firm dough. Finally, add the chocolate and nuts.

2.Roll the dough carefully into a long (or several small) sausage-like shape(s) and place in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. After half an hour has passed, taken the dough out of the refrigerator and cut the sausage into slices, about 1 cm thick each, and place on baking sheet.

3.Preheat the oven to 200°C. Lower the temperature to 175°C and bake the cookies for 10 – 15 minutes at the centre of the oven. Take out of oven when the edges of the cookie are golden brown and cool.

{Café Kjeks}
Frå Café Cookies pakken

140 g smør, ved romtemperatur
130 g sukker
60 g havremjøl
240 g kveitemjøl
75 g karamellsaus
3 ts bakepulver
1 eggeplomme
130 g lys belgisk sjokolade, hakka
130 g mørk belgisk sjokolade, hakka
45 g hasselnøtter, hakka
½ ts salt
1/3 dl vatn

Legg rullane i kjøleskapet i 30 minutt.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the cookie crumbles.

I noticed Norwegian and Indonesian have the same spelling for "saus", interesting!

Anyway, I hope you're doing well. I haven't seen your updates in almost a year.
