Today is the 24th of December, which is THE DAY in Norway. Tonight my family and I (and my Jewish friend, who's celebrating Christmas for the first time!) will enjoy a delicious dinner of salted mutton ribs with mashed swedes and potatoes. Dinner is followed by dessert, our traditional sitronfromasj, or lemon mousse, plus riskrem, or rice pudding, with red currant sauce. My sister placed an almond somewhere in the pudding, and the one who finds it in their bowl gets the lovely homemade marzipan pig above! Yay! Then we'll open the gifts, one by one, enjoy coffee, Christmas biscuits and play games. It'll be great.
